ENIEDA Panel in Bydgoszcz

ENIEDA panel (Beyond) Europe: identity in text, context and interaction, took place on 15 November 2013. It was a lively and interesting event, having attracted participants from Japan, India, the USA, Chile and a number of European countries. The panel was  part of the First Bydgoszcz Symposium Discrusive Constructions of Europe and the opening plenary was given by Dr Svetlana Kurteš and Dr Monika Kopytowska, the panel organisers. Their plenary lecture was entitled ‘Communicating ideologies in daily interaction: theory, practise, pedagogy’.

New Łódź Papers in Pragmatics volume is out

The latest LLP volume (9.1) is out, featuring the Editorial by Paul Chilton and Monika Kopytowska and contributions by Francisco Yus, Helga Schröder, Svetlana Kurteš, Zohreh Eslami, Argyro Kantara and others. The Editorial Board of the Łódź papers in Pragmatics have also recently announced that Professor John Searle (UC Berkeley) kindly accepted their invitation to become Honorary Editor of the journal.

Two new ENIEDA panels

ENIEDA memberbs will be presenting their work and convening panel discussions at two important international conferences this year. The panel entitled “Communicative styles across borders and disciplines: Europe and beyond” is part of the International Conference  Cross-Cultural Pragmatics at a Crossroads III, taking place from 26-28 June 2013 at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK. The panel is convened by Dr Svetlana Kurteš and Professor Tatiana Larina and the panel discussant is Professor István Kecskés. Ten participants are invited to contribute, including: Dr Beata Anna Gallaher (United States Air Force Academy, Colorado, USA), Dr Zohreh Eslami (Texas A&M Univeristy, USA), Dr Monika Kopytowska (University of Łódź, Poland), Dr Neelakshi Suryanarayan (Delhi University, India), Prof Jesús Romero-Trillo (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain) and Dr Alcina Sousa (University of Madeira, Portugal). The Network will also be present at the forthcoming 13th International Pragmatics Conference (8-13 September, New Delhi, India). “The discourse of daily interaction: forms of address revisited” is the title of of our panel, featuring Professor Neelakshi Suryanarayan as our discussant. Among panel participants are: Prof Ravinder Gargesh (University of New Delhi, India), Dr Svetlana Kurteš, (University of Portsmouth, UK), Dr Igor Lakić (University of Montenegro, Montenegro), Prof Tatiana Larina (Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, Russia), Dr Alcina Sousa (University of Madeira, Portugal), Dr Zohreh Eslami (Texas A&M University, USA) and Dr Baljit Kaur Surjit Singh (University of Malaya, Malaysia).

Łódź Papers in Pragmatics Vol. 8.2 is out

The latest volume of the Łódź Papers in Pragmatics (8.2, November 2012) is out. The editorial is written by Monika Kopytowska and Paul Chilton, while the contributors include Monica Mosca, Sara Gesuato and Cynthia Lee.
